My opportunity idea has changed since the first round of interviews because I realized that my idea has varied a little. My initial thought was that there needed to be more parking spaces and places in general. Now, I think that there is more of an opportunity for the rules of parking to change.
During the first round, I interviewed two students that had already graduated from UF. I made sure to only interview people that regularly need to be on campus this time.
I changed two of my questions this time. These are the questions I asked this time:
1. Tell me about your last experience parking on the UF campus.
2. What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear UF parking? Why?
3. Do you think the system used for parking is fair to the student population?
I have learned a lot from this experience. I know that not all customers have the exact same opinion as me, but that means I can learn from them and they can learn from me. I still believe in my idea, and I am happy to change it to fit the needs of customers.
Three tips I would give to students in the next semester of ENT 3003 about interviewing customers are be confident, be prepared, and be excited about your idea.
Hey Rachel! I have yet to meet a person who does not think the University of Florida has a parking issue. It is hard for one to take their car to visit their friends because once they reach that building there are no parking spots available. Not only are there no spots available but it seems as if your car will get towed if you do park anywhere. I just wanted to add to your interviews and offer my opinion. I think you would enjoy checking out my post as well! http://cambent.blogspot.com/2016/01/interviewing-customers-no1.html
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! Keep up the good work :)
ReplyDeleteI loved how you looked at what was wrong with your questions, and how they might have changed the type of answers you were receiving... and changed them. You really edited your interview to suit your new view on your idea, and I think that was a great thing to do! I also used parking problems but failed to interview customers. You're still welcome to visit my blog at http://ufclassblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel! I like how you changed your questions, they produced answers that gave insight on the causes of UF parking problems. I agree with the girls in the last video, that having all different types of decals makes things overcomplicated and that's a huge problem considering how tickets are given out like free candy. It's an even bigger issue at night with regard to getting out of work, or coming out of exams, especially since the bus system has its own share of flaws.

ReplyDeleteI think by you changing your questions, it shows that you are becoming more comfortable in interviewing the customers. The interviews were really good and I think you did a great job. The parking situation is a big time hassle at UF and there needs to be a better method at the university. Overall great job!
rachel,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job interviewing. I think that the questions you asked were not leading and that you really went into it showing a non biased approach. The girls seemed to have a lot to say, which means your idea is good and that your interviewing skills made them feel comfortable. Overall, great job (and great idea, by the way)
Rachel, I think it was a very good idea to target your interview questions as well as the people that you targeted. I enjoyed listening to their responses because I also connected to them. I do not have much experience with parking, but the few times I did, it was not a pleasant experience!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel! I love the fact that you took something we deal with daily and tried to find a solution. As a person who is currently working on patience I don’t want to say that I hate looking for parking because it takes too long. I will just say, it’s not my favorite thing to do. I think that the change in your questions shows how your thoughts on your idea have evolved and changed a bit.

Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteYour interviews make it clear that students are generally dissatisfied will on campus parking, but I'm pretty sure you already knew what the answer would be. I'm not quite clear about the solution that you're testing, though. Are you investigating a valet parking service or something similar?
Hey Rachel, great interviews! I thought your questions were very pointed, and got great responses. I agree that the results would be obvious, everyone hates how parking is ran on campus, and around Gainesville for that matter. I think you did a great job attacking this problem, and your interviews turned out great.
